PHOTO TIPS FOR THE BEST RESULT:
I can work with any photo. To this day, I've never rejected a photo. If your photo is awful, as long as I can make out the pertinent details, I can paint it precisely.
That said, a good reference picture does make a difference. Ideally, you'd want the picture in natural daylight, at eye level, without flash for the best color accuracy and pose.
Profile, or profile angle shots tend to especially pop.
Simply put, the more detail you have in your reference photos, the easier it is for me to accurately add detail to the portrait.
